Being a teacher here has allowed me to learn so much and I have truly found my passion.
I am an ESL teacher for multiple age groups. Kindergarten – 6th grade. I teach roughly 25 classes per week and do all my own prep. I have created multiple lessons for our English Camps that have been very successful and loved by the students.
I have experience teaching phonics to Kindergarten students using Letterland and Reading Sketch programs. Also, I have a great deal of experience teaching reading, writing, listening, speaking and grammar to elementary students.
Out with my expected working duties, I also trained new ESL teachers after only being an ESL teacher myself for 4 months along with teaching multiple adults how to create and give productive, successful ESL lessons to young learners.
St Peter's Primary School
January 2017 – April 2017
74 Dunbar Street, Aberdeen, AB24 3UJ
I was among 40 applicants chosen from over 200 people to take part in a student tutoring scheme sponsored by British Petroleum. From January to April this year I spent 8 weeks teaching English Literacy at St Peter's Primary School in Aberdeen. I taught in an age 8/9 class and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Lessons consisted of reading comprehension, diacritical marking, phoneme work and Elkonin boxes. I assisted with Mandarin and Drama lessons also during my time there. The whole experience proved to me that teaching was the profession I wished to pursue after graduation. On completion of the scheme I gave a speech to 100 other students, council members, lecturers and BP coordinators about my time at the school.
